Day in the Life {Work Day}

Time for my/our favorite type of post!!

Here is what my last 24+ hours looked like:

6:40 AM – Alarm goes off. Feelin’ pretty alright with waking up right away (praaaaaise), but I slowly roll out of bed.

6:45 AM – Bathroom, brush teeth, put in contacts.

6:50 AM – Say a quick prayer and change into workout clothes.

7:00 AM – Grab my breakfast and lunch from the fridge. Make sure I packed everything for work.

7:07 AM – Out the door.

7:15 AM – Mass.

7:45 AM – Go back to my car to eat breakfast in the church parking lot. I ate a big hunk of banana bread baked oatmeal (that I baked on the weekend) with classic peanut butter on top. Listen to music and read blogs on my phone with the windows rolled down to enjoy the crisp morning air.

Plus a couple pieces of pork jerky since I was still hungry.

IMG_1524

I love jerky, but it’s SO SALTY.

8:10 AM – Drive over to work.

8:30 AM – Arrive at work. Sit in the parking lot for a little bit to answer blog comments, check emails, and figure out what I want to do at the gym.

9:00 AM – Get to the employee gym, put up my hair, and start warming up.

9:10 AM – Move and groove! (Take my time in between sets. I just have fun playing with all the equipment when I’m down in the dungeon gym by myself.)

3 sets of each:

  • 10 squat cleans (55#)
  • 5 burpee box jumps
  • 15 front rack step ups (45#)
  • 20 med ball jump lunge slams
  • 10 deadlifts (115#)
  • 20 squat jumps
  • 20 hanging leg ab raises
  • 15 overhead tricep extensions (25-30#)

10:05 AM – Sweaty and wiped. Streeeetch.

10:20 AM – Wipe off the sweat from the face (and pits), comb the hair, put on makeup, and change into work clothes. Eat an oat and honey KIND bar in the meantime.

7:35 PM – Make some golden milk! I’ve been seeing this “fad” on the blog world recently, but I am so down for making this a “thing.”

Day in the Life of a Third Semester Sophomore

What am I? First semester sophomore? Third semester sophomore (since this is my third semester of college)?

do know one thing I am: frazzled. School is starting to pick up with exams and such, but so are activities. It’s such a blessing to be busy doing things that I love, but hellllloooo, long days.

Now that it’s been almost a month since I started classes, I thought it this would be a good time to share a day in the life again. I managed to document my whole day on Wednesday, which was one of my more packed (but fun!) days.

7:05 AM— First alarm goes off. Check emails on phone.

7:15 AM— Roll out of bed and go to the bathroom.

7:25 AM— Pray.

7:35 AM— Change and try to look presentable for the day.

8:00 AM— Walk to my favorite dining hall for breakfast in the gorgeous weather. Praaaaaaaise.

IMG_8221

8:15 AM— Nosh on eggs, French toast with peanut butter and banana, and a glass o’ milk while studying a bit.

9:00 AM— Move outdoors to study in the [again] GORGEOUS weather.

10:00 AM— Head over to the admissions office to get ready to give a campus tour!

courtesy of the admissions office // also, this was taken a couple weeks ago, but this is the essence

11:45 AM— Finish up touring [in the gorgeous weather] and talking to a family from the tour. Walk back to my room to change into athletic clothes because: a) sweating in my jeans; b) dance later; c) living in anything other than stretchy, comfy clothes is overrated. Pick up a special package on the way home.

11:55 AM— Get back to my dorm room, open up the package {from the awesome folks at PJ’s Organics!}. Rip off my jeans like they’re going completely out of style and change into yoga capris and a t-shirt.

12:10 PM— Meet my friends (badass, Division I soccer playas) for lunch at the dining hall.

12:45 PM— We all walk to human physiology lecture (favorite class this semester).

1:50 PM— Get out of class and head to the Catholic Center to do some studying. Eat a banana sometime there. Talk with people because they’re really cool and fun and I like them. Ugh, so distracting.

IMG_8238

3:10 PM— Walk to the gym for my modern dance class. ‘Twas an amazing and challenging class, leaving me feeling spent.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

5:00 PM— Dance class ends. RUN [literally] back to the Catholic Center for a 5:00 meeting.

5:10 PM— Inhale a granola bar before walking into the meeting a sweaty, smelly mess.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

5:50 PM— Meeting ends. Eat a peach that I snagged from the dining hall earlier.

6:00 PM— Go to another meeting. My lovely friend brings snacks (thank the Lord).

7:45 PM— Go to dinner with my friend. Salad, pork with mango salsa, oatmeal raisin cookie a la mode, and a bite of my friend’s chocolate fondue, because the dining hall had FONDUE!!!

8:30 PM— Walk back to my dorm. Showerrrrrr.

9:00 PM— Sit down to do work. Get semi-distracted talking to Rachel. Try to do more work. Give my roommate a massage. Mentally give up. Get ready for bed sometime in there. Pray.

12:35 AM— Hit. that. hay.

Phew. I was aware that I was eating kind-of-a-lot-of sugar, but heck, my body needed it.

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you have a fun weekend 🙂

So tell me:

Is it jean weather yet for you?

Are your days short, average, or long recently?

What do you like to dip in fondue?

What are you doing this weekend? Today: class and catching up on work. Tomorrow: touring, jazz fest, celebrating a friend’s birthday, and a movie night! Sunday: choir, Mass, studying, laundry, and dinner with family friends.

WIAW: On Repeat

Tori Kelly is not the only thing on repeat for me right now.

I have a lot of foods that I don’t mind eating on consecutive days, or even consecutive meals, which you might notice from all my Instagram (<—follow me!) photos. My photo albums on my computer are basically galleries of oatmeal, salmon salads, avocado toast, and yogurt bowls. The downside to always looking through these delicious food pictures is that they make me hungry! Tough life, right?

This week I noticed more repeated food items than usual, partially because there were so many leftovers, but mostly because I just like those foods a lot. However, I usually try to put a different spin on each meal so that my palate doesn’t get bored. Breakfast always has repeats though because it’s my favorite meal of the day, and I like to stick with foods that I know I love. One day I should post a list of all the different breakfasts I eat!

Also, despite the fact that I eat a lot of the same foods every day, I still love taking new pictures of them. It’s definitely blogger thing, isn’t it? Although, the first two breakfast photos below are recycled….But I promise the other ones are from this past week!

Of course, I’m showing you all my food as a part of Jenn’s fabulous What I Ate Wednesday party! (PS: Her little baby girl is the ca-yutest ball of smiles ever!)

Breakfasts

DSC_6608

{Repeat} More of Kath’s baked oatmeal with nut butter. The recipe makes four servings and I’m the only one that eats it in my house, so I’ve been having it a few mornings. Not complaining! (Recycled photo)

CSC_5889

{Repeat} Overnight oats. Of course my favorite breakfast has to be on repeat! (Recycled photo, but they all look the same)

DSC_6678

{Repeat} Peanut butter balls and Rice Krispies + banana with PB. Not anything you haven’t seen.

DSC_6675

{Repeat} Most photographed breakfast on my Instagram: Whipped banana oats with a dollop of nut butter.

DSC_6674

{Repeat} Pumpkin-banana bread that I made on Halloween. Topped with more of the good stuff.

Lunches

This week my mom made delicious turkey, cheese, and spinach sandwiches, so that’s what I’ve been eating at school. I should try taking pictures of my school lunches more often for a lil’ bit of a visual.

I did have a fabulous lunch at home on Saturday after dance:

Avocado toast and lentil soup

And this is what a typical company Sunday brunch looks like before rehearsal:

IMG_2727

Half a bagel with scallion cream cheese, Boo Berry cereal, and an apple

Brunch is one of our beloved bonding traditions that we have every Sunday! Every weekend that we have rehearsal, two or three girls are responsible for buying brunch for the whole company (15 of us + our company director), and we just rotate every week so that each person buys brunch at least twice (sometimes three times) in the year. There’s always bagels, cereal, fruit, and some other snacks that the girls decide to make/buy, so this meal is definitely has {repeats}. For some of my friends, this is their breakfast, but since I teach Sunday school in the morning and have breakfast before that, this is my lunch.

Snacks

DSC_6685 photo 1

These super yummy freeze-dried edamame! They’re crispier and lighter than some other dried edamame I’ve tried. My mom got these from Costco, and I highly recommend them!

DSC_6679

{Repeat} Yogurt + fruit bowls. All the time.

Dinners

DSC_6681 DSC_6680

{Repeat} Lentil soup. This time with grilled cheese and tomato + salad with pickled beets and pumpkin.

DSC_6666

{Repeat} Salad. This time with curry tofu and a hard boiled egg + toast + mango.

DSC_6690

{Repeat x2} Salad with salmon, sautéed onions and Brussels sprouts + avocado toast.

DSC_6689

{Repeat} Brussels sprouts. This time with gnocchi + Thai basil ground turkey.

And that’s about it for now! It has been a wonderful week of great food thanks to mom’s home cooking. College is going to be quite the transition… *Sigh*

Have a great day, everyone!

So tell me: What foods do you have on repeat all the time? Any new snacks that you’re loving?
