1) A great moment of judgement from others: When I’m walking through the dining hall wearing my athletic head band, athletic clothes, and athletic iPhone armband all while proudly holding a plate of dessert.

2) My current favorite salad dressing is CREAMY. Creamy honey mustard dressing, to be exact.

I’m not a huge fan of other creamy dressings such as caesar, ranch, thousand island, etc., but honey mustard has a special place in my heart. Side note: The chicken in each of these meals was on point—flavorful and not a workout to chew it.

3) I have not done steady state cardio training (as in, running, elliptical, rowing, stair master, etc. for a longer duration) in several months now, and out of all the types of exercise I used to do, I definitely miss this the least (if at all). In fact, I don’t think I could enjoy doing it ever again.

4) I’d much rather get my heart rate up with burpees or dancing, and I’d rather build my endurance with something like hiking or bouldering (<— stuff is no joke). One of the great things I’ve truly internalized after taking time off of formal workouts this summer is that it’s not worth it to continue exercise that you don’t enjoy.

5) Also, my roommate just convinced me to air squat through a whole song with her in our pajamas. #FunctionalFitnessForFriends

6) I cracked open and ate a whole lobster all by myself for the first time last night!

Once every year, the BU dining halls have lobster lobstah night, and since I missed it last year, I made sure to join the festivities this year. It was madness in the d-halls, but it was worth it for this little bugger. Especially followed by this local macintosh apple crisp + oatmeal raisin cookie a la mode.

8) I cannot begin to tell you how much I’m loving modern dance class. Even though I’m not planning on pursuing dance professionally, I think I’ve realized that I want to keep dance a part of my life forever. Dance = soul speaking (<— such artist language).

9) If you have a Snapchat… What the heck are those new filters!? Like, those things are straight out of nightmares and horror movies. I just know I’m going to have trust issues opening snaps from now on.

However, I do approve of Daliza’s usage of the filter on Donald Trump.

I Was a Twerking Grandma This Weekend

…and I was loving every minute of it.

I grew a booty bigger than Nicki Minaj’s overnight (right, Arman?) just so I could be a grandma for Halloween. It took a lot of squatting and cinnamon rolls.

As much as I like that explanation, you might be more inclined to believe that my roommate had a few of those packaging bubble/balloon things and came up with the idea that I should put them inside my shorts underneath my dress to make it look like the earth revolved around my derrière.

She’s brilliant! I was on a determined mission to find a costume that required minimal effort and $0, and I must say that I’m pretty proud of what we came up with. Perhaps this also means that I own a lot of grandma-oriented things.

But yes, that was my Halloween. I had a pretty awesome time bumping into people with my tush and attempting to twerk at the Catholic center party. I literally danced my booty off (I took out the bubble packaging halfway through the party), ate way too many pita chips (I don’t think I had a single piece of candy— just cookies), and got to spend time with some of my best pals. Then I slept for 9 hours, which made me young and fresh again.

On Saturday night, I played some indoor sports with friends. I showed off my talent of not being able to dribble a soccer ball effectively, but my friends were nice and still let me play. My accomplishment was making two shots into the basketball hoop using the soccer ball, which is lighter and easier to manage than a real basketball, but at least my hand-eye coordination is somewhat existent.

Then I went to my first Boston University hockey game ever (and probably my second hockey game in general)! I didn’t get to stay for the whole game, but we were not doing so hot against Providence when I left. 😦

It was also superhero night at this particular hockey game, so my friend Liz dressed up as Catwoman. Killed it.

The rest of my weekend consisted of studying, Sunday Mass, resting, and witnessing Boston’s first snow of the season! It was super wet and huge snow, so none of it stuck to the ground, but it was still an exciting event for the population.

I had much more than my fair share of sugar this weekend, but like I said before, none of it was in the form of candy. I just chose to get my sugar high on things like cookies and anything fruit crisp-y…a la mode of course!

Oh, hello!!

I have two confessions:

1) I said I wasn’t going to post in a while after Friday, but I forgot that I could write up a blog post this weekend to schedule for today. So here I am!

2) I didn’t make peach cobbler on Thursday like I said I would. I made it on Friday. But time does not dictate the pure deliciousness of peach cobbler, so whenever I made it/ate it/swooned at it, it was all good.

I knew I needed to make peach cobbler before summer ended and before I went off to college. We finished it within a 1.5 days because it’s the dessert of all desserts (in my opinion). If you’re not sure what peach cobbler is, it’s stewed peaches beneath a biscuit-like dough that’s crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. I need to stop right there before I become sad that it’s all gone.

I shared with everyone, don’t worry. It wasn’t easy to share, but I did. 😉

I used this recipe (cutting down the sugar by half for both the batter and the peaches), and although it’s not like the cobbler my aunt made that I first fell in love with, it’s still so delicious and satisfying. A la mode of course!

The sad, inevitable time came to say goodbye to my last two friends that were still in New York this weekend, so we had a three-part celebration for going off to college. Part 1 on Thursday night was ice cream and a walk (the default friend activity).

Part 2 on Friday night was going to the diner and then to the park in the dark to pass around a soccer ball, attempt rollerblading, and play “Ninja”. It was humbling getting on those roller skates, especially since I used to be a figure skater! I almost fell on my face approximately 12 times. It’s also humbling kicking a soccer ball around two soccer players. It’s a good thing we were best friends before they witnessed my poor foot-eye coordination.

Part 3 on Sunday was basically just chatting for a bit and saying, “see ya soon!” Why are we not emotional?

Besides soccer and rollerblading on Friday, my moves included handstand practice and a 16-minute arm workout from PurelyTwins (I’m just obsessed with their workouts). Holy moly, that one is a shoulder smoker during the workout, but my lats were actually more sore the next day!

On Saturday, I ran 3 slow miles with walking rests and some bodyweight exercises in between each mile. Oof. Endurance on a scale of 1-10 is like a 5. Something to work towards!

My last dinner at a restaurant in New York for a while involved Turkish food (…thanks to Groupon 😀 )! The food really hit the spot. We had an appetizer plate to share that was so big that we had to take some home as leftovers, and I ordered the grilled salmon for my entree. Everything was so tasty!

I think I finally see the resemblance between my parents and myself

Sunday morning started with a beautiful 4 mile walk with the ‘rents at our favorite trail (so much shade + a lake view!).
