Five Minute Friday #9: What Motivates Me

It’s Good Friday.

My three exams are finished for this week.

I’m strangely alert and amped up as I type this at 1:30 AM (a bunch of us were out doing a Holy Thursday procession around downtown Boston).

Here’s what got me through this week (and what gets me through every week, for that matter):

I’m definitely missing so much information that I wanted to tell you from this week, buuuuuut I should hit the hay.

*as I get distracted on Facebook*

If you’re celebrating Easter this weekend, I wish you a blessed and joyous one indeed. If not, I wish you a blessed and joyous weekend too!

So tell me:

What motivates you?

What are you doing this weekend?

Anything in particular for Easter?

  1. Your video really made me think about what motivates me. And what I realized it comes down to is that people in general motivate me. This may be a very generic & cop-out answer but seeing how the world works. All 7 billion++ people have a place in the grand scheme of things and knowing that inspires me to do my best, to make the most of my time, to live a better life. Honestly and ironically, I am in awe of those people (like you) who do have a better relationship with a god in their lives to motivate them.

After a looooong week, I am going to try to relax, catch up on TV, homework & reading my “fun” book this weekend. Happy Easter to you too! 😊

  2. Agree with everything you said. You nailed it for me. Especially the last bit. I would not have survived up to this point with God. I don’t even want to imagine a life without Him!
Love you so much girl and wishing you and your family a blessed Easter!!!!

  3. I loved the video so much. Very informative, honest and genuine! Anyways, I think that what motivates me is both extremes of positivity and negativity. If something really good happens to me, I’m motivated to repeat it, but if something negative happens, then I would be really determined to never let it happen again or eliminate it!

  4. THAT was precious. You made me think of Romans 5:5-10, ‘5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.’ <33 I would be dead without God's redeeming power through His Son. ❤ Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. <33

  5. Loved the video, buddy!

Your honesty and true Al persona shines through- Like a brussels sprout in a sea of kimchi. I think motivation can come in two forms- Need and want- Both important but both spur different forms of motivation. Gah, food for thought. Literally.
