A few notable moments/things since I last posted (p.s. check out a day in the life here!):
- Lunar eclipse. There were some nerds in front of the honors college with telescopes and cameras staring at the blood moon…so I knew I could join them and fit in.
- Temperatures cold enough to make me want a jacket heavier than a sweater.
- Drinking tropical drinks despite said temperatures.
- I have a new lab partner/breakfast buddy who also brings her own peanut butter to the dining hall and allows me to eat some when I forget to bring my own. #friendship.
Besides those things, I thought this would be a good time to share some other things that I’m diggin’ and feelin’ currently. [Love reading these kinds of posts from bloggers like Spoons!]
Current book: Human physiology textbook and I don’t hate it. Also, currently getting through lots of pages in my Holocaust textbook. Reading about history has always been difficult for me attention-wise, but this content is interesting and heavy.
Current music: “Conrad” by Ben Howard. One of my friends kept talking about how excited he was to see Ben Howard at Boston Calling (an annual local concert that features a ton of rising/already huge artists), so I decided to check out his music. Verdict: in love.
Current guilty pleasure: Studying in the communal kitchen. This sounds hella weird, I know. It’s my guilty pleasure because there are so many study rooms from which I can choose, but I choose the kitchen because there usually isn’t anyone in there, so it’s quiet, and I can stand or sit at the countertop.
Rachel was judging me so hard. I’m high maintenance, I get it.
Current nail color hair style: Straight (natural) or in a ponytail. My hair is stubborn, so I just let it be free most of the time. I kinda want to curl my hair, so I’m waiting for a special occasion to do so.
Current drink: H2O. Still carry around my water bottle like a security blanket.
Current food: I’m really enjoying these burritos that PJ’s Organics so kindly sent me!* I found out a couple weeks ago that I actually don’t have the unlimited meal plan (even though I thought I did this whole time); I actually have the 14-meal plan (14 meals per week + other dining points). Thus, any food that I can eat outside the dining hall in my dorm/on the go that is nutritious and delicious…sign me up.
I think this breakfast burrito had rosemary or sage in it. Fantastic.
Current obsession: My fuzzy red blanket. It gets chilly in our dorm at night these days, so the extra fluff and warmth is much appreciated.
Current wish: That I could read more blogs. Studying and activities say nay many a time.
Current need: I would say a massage, but that’s not really a need. I would not object a massage offer though.
Current triumph: Deciding on leading a Bible study. I was on the fence about it at first, but with the prayers and encouragement of my friends, I have decided to lead a Bible study for freshmen girls starting next week!
Current bane of my existence: “Bane of my existence” always sounds so melodramatic, but I guess mine would be the fact that nothing has happened in terms of my normal, feminine processes yet.
Current indulgence: A heck of a lot of sugar in general, which is something I want to talk about in another post this week. But for now, I’m just reflecting on how much I love dessert.
Current procrastination: Studying for my human physiology exam and instead typing this post. (Don’t worry, mom and dad, it’s under control.)
Current blessing: Really good friends. Always a blessing.
Current excitement: Catholic Center retreat in New Hampshire this weekend! In addition to spending some deep, quality time with God and friends, I’m SO EXCITED FOR STARS. Living in New York and Boston, I don’t see stars that often, but the New Hampshire skies seem to display the universe and it makes me want to cry of happiness.
Current mood: Content, anxious, excited.
Current link: Instead of a link, I have a few quote photos from Pope Francis’ address at the Festival of Families. Even if you’re not Catholic, I think it’s safe to say that Pope Francis’ words during his visit to the US hit every person’s heart in one way or another.

Hope you all have a lovely Tuesday!
So tell me your current:
…guilty pleasure.
…obsession.
…wish.
…mood.
*PJ’s Organics sent me some of their products to try. Review coming soon! All opinions and content are my own.
It looks like you are having a great time in college! Those breakfast burritos look oh so good. Have fun with your Bible Study! I recently joined one on campus and I truly love it. 🙂
Thanks, Alison! I joined my first Bible study ever my first semester of college too, and it was so wonderful. Enjoy!
Yummy!! I’ve really been craving breakfast burritos, even though I’m mildly artic to eggs. 😉
Guilty pleasure: Laying around in the last of the sun and not necessarily doing anything.
Obsession: Coconut flour…I haven’t worked with it much in the past, but I’m loving all the different dough-y, batter-y things out can transform, like many of Amanda’s or Arman’s creations! Yum!
Wish: Very hard to choose, but I wish I could take all my sibs with me when I go to help out my grandparents in October while my grandma has surgery. They’re my best friends, amazing workers, we’re a phenomenal team, and, plus, then we could all fly down together. We don’t fly hardly at all, and some of sibs have never flown before!
Mood: Mostly just chill, taking the day as it comes and relaxed.
I’m dying to get back to my coconut flour so I can make all of Amanda’s and Arman’s recipes again!
I hope you have an awesome time with your grandparents! That’s wonderful to hear that you’re so close with your siblings 🙂
So proud of you for leading that bible study!!! Really. Let’s us know how it goes!
Need:massage!!! I’m so with you on that! I will pay in baked goods/chores/anything #desperate😉
Guilty pleasure: telling everyone I’m going to bed “early” just so I can relax and peace out without any one cramping my space …hey it works 😂
Have a great week Alison!!
Thanks, girl! We should go for a massage together one day 😉
LOL at y
*at your guilty pleasure!
So jealous about the eclipse…my dad knew about it, but thought it was at midnight, but apparently that was east coast time or something, because at 9:30 or so our time, it was just finishing. I only got to see the tail end of it, and it would have been so easy, and wouldn’t have messed up my sleep! 😥
Guilty pleasure: Listening to a fiction book instead of listening to something more profitable like a lecture, podcast or my bible. Oh, I listen to my bible, too, I just put it off. ;P I’m in Luke, so I love it, don’t get me wrong. 😀
Obsession: Above mentioned audiobook… It’s the 100 Cupboards series by N. D. Wilson, who is one of my all time favorite authors. I love how his stories are a mix of real-life things and problems, and very unreal things and problems. He makes real life stuff seem like comic relief, I guess. I’m doing a horrible job describing it, you probably think it’s some sort of horror book now, which it’s not. 😀 I love those books. (Did I mention, he captures feelings perfectly, at least for me. 🙂 )
Wish: I wish I could see all my friends from quizzing right now, and have a big party…scratch that, I wish I could go back in time a relive a quiz meet. THAT would be awesome.
Mood: Kind of sad, a bit depressed, and wistful. The coming of fall has hit me with an unexpected punch of nostalgia for “the old days” as I’ve become to refer to my past. 😉 I am missing so much, and finding out a bit hard to enjoy the present. I think October will give me the kick in the backside I need, though! 😀
Aw I hope you get over your fall blues. I totally understand. The colder seasons are definitely the most nostalgic for me too!
Don’t hate me but i wish i had your chillier weather! already getting tired of sweating my face off between classes and am sad that drinking a hot pumpkin latte is totally out of the question unless i want to break a full body sweat. haha!
hope you are having an amazing week girlie!
You can totally come visit Boston for some chilly weather! 😉
Hope you’re doing well, Julianna!
Flax and chia seeds in PB?! Sounds amazing…
My current guilty pleasure is, and has been for a while- Netflix… because we only just got it in Australia! Obsession has been kiwi fruit. So good!
It’s good stuff!
Kiwi in Australia… I forget that summer is coming there!
Your breakfast picture this morning made me simultaneously happy and hungry. I want all of your peanut butter. Alison, I really WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU WITH YOUR BIBLE STUDY. THOSE FRESHMEN GIRLS ARE SO BLESSED TO HAVE YOU AS A MENTOR AND SOMEONE TO LOOK UP TO. I CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS NEW VENTURE.
AGH ^ I don’t mean for all of that to be in capital letters. Ignore that.
ANYWAY hahahaha, I love your dark brown boots! I’m slightly jealous that you’re experiencing a “real” autumn right now, while over on the west coast it is 95 degrees.
Aw thank you, Julia! I just had my first Bible study today and it went very well 🙂 Your encouragement means so much to me.
I saw that you guys had a Cali “winter” today. Stay warm! 😉
My current mood is grateful. I am so happy that the fall season has finally arrived in Columbus. I love that I get to go on morning walks with Charlotte. I’m so thankful that I get to spend the day with her (as I know many moms don’t get the opportunity.)
PS – That burrito looks so good! I may have to look for one! Also – I can relate to eating a lot of sugar recently. I think I’ve gotten myself hooked again…eek!
This is certainly perfect walking weather. Gotta get outside before the snow hits!
Al-i-son it won’t let me comment on your newest post but…damn you are a wise monkey, (in the nicest possible way). I like how you correlated it to EVERYONE irrespective of beliefs, age, gender, beauty or desire to be Beyonce’s left shoe.
Rock on, champion.
Thanks so much, friend. I’ll take “wise monkey.” Beyonce’s left SHOE? Tell us your REAL desire, Arman.
