What am I? First semester sophomore? Third semester sophomore (since this is my third semester of college)?
I do know one thing I am: frazzled. School is starting to pick up with exams and such, but so are activities. It’s such a blessing to be busy doing things that I love, but hellllloooo, long days.
Now that it’s been almost a month since I started classes, I thought it this would be a good time to share a day in the life again. I managed to document my whole day on Wednesday, which was one of my more packed (but fun!) days.
7:05 AM— First alarm goes off. Check emails on phone.
7:15 AM— Roll out of bed and go to the bathroom.
7:25 AM— Pray.
7:35 AM— Change and try to look presentable for the day.
8:00 AM— Walk to my favorite dining hall for breakfast in the gorgeous weather. Praaaaaaaise.
8:15 AM— Nosh on eggs, French toast with peanut butter and banana, and a glass o’ milk while studying a bit.
9:00 AM— Move outdoors to study in the [again] GORGEOUS weather.
10:00 AM— Head over to the admissions office to get ready to give a campus tour!
courtesy of the admissions office // also, this was taken a couple weeks ago, but this is the essence
11:45 AM— Finish up touring [in the gorgeous weather] and talking to a family from the tour. Walk back to my room to change into athletic clothes because: a) sweating in my jeans; b) dance later; c) living in anything other than stretchy, comfy clothes is overrated. Pick up a special package on the way home.
11:55 AM— Get back to my dorm room, open up the package {from the awesome folks at PJ’s Organics!}. Rip off my jeans like they’re going completely out of style and change into yoga capris and a t-shirt.
the joy of free pits and aeration
12:10 PM— Meet my friends (badass, Division I soccer playas) for lunch at the dining hall.
12:45 PM— We all walk to human physiology lecture (favorite class this semester).
1:50 PM— Get out of class and head to the Catholic Center to do some studying. Eat a banana sometime there. Talk with people because they’re really cool and fun and I like them. Ugh, so distracting.
3:10 PM— Walk to the gym for my modern dance class. ‘Twas an amazing and challenging class, leaving me feeling spent.
5:00 PM— Dance class ends. RUN [literally] back to the Catholic Center for a 5:00 meeting.
5:10 PM— Inhale a granola bar before walking into the meeting a sweaty, smelly mess.
5:50 PM— Meeting ends. Eat a peach that I snagged from the dining hall earlier.
6:00 PM— Go to another meeting. My lovely friend brings snacks (thank the Lord).
this x50 (not a hyperbole)
7:45 PM— Go to dinner with my friend. Salad, pork with mango salsa, oatmeal raisin cookie a la mode, and a bite of my friend’s chocolate fondue, because the dining hall had FONDUE!!!
8:30 PM— Walk back to my dorm. Showerrrrrr.
9:00 PM— Sit down to do work. Get semi-distracted talking to Rachel. Try to do more work. Give my roommate a massage. Mentally give up. Get ready for bed sometime in there. Pray.
12:35 AM— Hit. that. hay.
Phew. I was aware that I was eating kind-of-a-lot-of sugar, but heck, my body needed it.
Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you have a fun weekend 🙂
So tell me:
Is it jean weather yet for you?
Are your days short, average, or long recently?
What do you like to dip in fondue?
What are you doing this weekend? Today: class and catching up on work. Tomorrow: touring, jazz fest, celebrating a friend’s birthday, and a movie night! Sunday: choir, Mass, studying, laundry, and dinner with family friends.
I’ll be honest – this post made me miss college. I always get nostalgic around this time of year when school is starting again. We live a mile from Ohio State’s campus so I’ll often see students walking to class and remember what it was like doing the same. I’m not sure if I’ll ever pursue higher education; however, it’s something I dream about. I just love to learn 🙂
The one thing I don’t miss….LOONNNGGG days!
That’s so cool that you’re thinking about pursuing another degree. As hard as classes can be, learning is such a blessing. I’m trying to soak in every day— long or short— before it’s all over!
I’m not totally sold on jean weather yet, still a little warm during the day but perfect at night!! Jealous your college cafeteria has fondue… I wish mine did!
It was definitely sweater and boots weather this weekend, but now it’s back up to almost 80 degrees these next couple of days… The weather likes to play with my emotions.
It’s been a (different kind of) busy week here, since I’ve been helping with first year orientation. They pack the days with activities, so they’ve been loooong. Sugar has been getting me through some sleepiness. But next week things really pick up because classes start! I think I’m excited. 🙂
Give me a (food) thing and I will probably dip it in fondue. Fruit would be the favorite, though!
This weekend: game night with the first years, catching up with all the upperclassmen who are moving in, taking the first years to the rest of their events, and a Target trip for some apartment stuff!
Good luck with the start of classes! My friends who helped out with orientation this year had a blast, so I hope you did as well 🙂
Ooh, lucky roommate! Can you give me a massage?? 😛 Our weather’s been pretty weird, ranging from steady, dripping rain to too-warm, stuffy nights, so whenever I think I’ve got the clothing thing down, it changes. I swear, I need to have like three outfits to change between throughout the day! 😉 Regular-length days around here, but the month is going by crazy-fast! How does that even work?? This weekend we may be continuing our soon-to-be tradition of watching a Disney classic together as a family. 🙂 Plus, doing one of my favorite Barre workouts, blogging, working on a project with my sister, and maybe a little reading it I’m lucky. Hope your weekend’s fabulous, Alison!! ❤
This whole YEAR is going by crazy fast! Aw I love that your family has a tradition of watching a Disney classic together! ♥ Makes my heart warm.
Well, the weather here has been nice, but today it’s rainy. I’m almost ok with it. Almost. I still miss the sun, though.
My days are about average right now. Blah. It’s the lull before the storm that is October. That is going to be a whirlwind! We have a aunt coming, my dad going on a business trip, going down to babysit our cousins kids, and taking care of my grandparents (in CA) after my grandma has surgery, all within the same couple weeks.
Not much planned this weekend, but I am anticipating a movie or two, and some odd chores that need to be done. And sleeping in! And maybe some blogging. Who knows! 😀
Wow, sounds like a busy October indeed! Hope you enjoy this time of sleeping in and move watching 🙂
Wowsers you’re a busy gal!!!!
These days I’m freezing in the morning and all for the jeans and sweats and then by afternoon I’m stripping down to shorts!
And to answer your question, brownies!!!;)
Hope you have a great weekend girl!
Right!? I can’t decide what to wear when I get dressed in the morning, haha.
Haha I bet you’re an awesome campus tour guide!!! It looks like you’re a busy lady 🙂 I’m glad you’re enjoying college!
Thanks, Liz! ♥
Crazy busy day, girl! I don’t know how you make it till 12:30am! I live in England as you know, so its jean weather all year round..I despise jeans, I feel so restricted in them. I wish I could wear running shorts every day..sigh. I just started a new job and whilst i’m enjoying it, my days feel super long when i’m working and I don’t know why! Hopefully when I settle in the time will pass quicker. I like to dip my face in fondue.
That is all.
I actually don’t like jeans that much either! I think they can look cute with so many things, but they’re NOT comfortable. Even though I only own “jeggings” anyway… I may or may not live in athletic pants 70% of the time. 😉
Good luck with your job! Congrats!
Activewear for the win 😉 thank you love!
I so wish I had documented some of my days when I was in college. I look back on them, and sometimes wonder how I got through them (between classes, studying, gym, work, meetings…). Love that you are going to have these to look back on!
This weekend = nothing. I mean, I guess I did go to CrossFit this morning, and then we did ‘adult things’ (ie, go to the bank and get groceries). But from here on out – nothing. It is so needed. The last FOUR weekends were so crazy, and two were spent out of town, so I need some downtime/me time!
It will be fun indeed to look back on these college posts almost like diary entries! Hope you enjoyed your downtime this weekend!
I ❤ this! 🙂 Your smile, your positive outlook, joy, yummy food, and crazy days make me smile! 🙂 ❤ My days are about average lately, not long, but not really short either. And it's getting slowwwllyy to jeans weather here. Colorado is staying pretty warm actually, more so than last year. 🙂 And your college style looks so comfy. It looks like what my college style would be if I were in college right now.
Fondue. I ❤ dipping strawberries, marshmallows, rice krispy treats, and well, anything else? Except for maybe, eggs?
Alison can you tell me where you got your prayer book? Or what the title is? I need to get one!
Thanks
I use a Catholic prayer book called Magnificat! I also love the devotional “Come Away My Beloved” by Frances J. Roberts 🙂
