1) So I almost lost my student ID and room key on the first day of classes. But I didn’t! PJ and I had our first “workout” (I did some yoga-y stuff and he took a walk) together of the semester yesterday morning, and of course I had to take a selfie for the occasion…
PJ is squinting from the sun, and I’m just being Asian
…But at some point within the 10 seconds it took me to take my phone out of the arm sleeve and snap the selfie, I dropped my lanyard in the grass. When we were walking to the dining hall to grab something to eat, I finally noticed that something was missing…(&%$!?) So I [literally] ran back to find my lanyard, praying that no one stole it yet.
2) After finding it, I went back to my dorm room instead of going back to the dining hall. In my dorm I ate salmon jerky and an entire bag of microwave-steamed broccoli.
3) I was sweaty and smelly at that point, but since I knew I would be walking and dancing later, I didn’t want to take a shower. Thus, I resorted to a sponge bath for my armpits and arms over the sink + a face wash. It probably would have taken the same amount of time to take a quick shower, but guatever.
4) Speaking of dancing, modern dance class yesterday was GLORIOUS. I hadn’t done any artistic movement in such a long time, so you bet your bottom dollar that I am loving this class. To be honest, the class is the most structured and intense workout I’ve done in a while, but I’ll get to that whole update tomorrow.
5) Winner winner dining hall dinner last night:
That would be my first fruit crisp a la mode of the semester ♥
6) I have my first 8AM class of college ever today woooooooop.
7) Another semester, another banana pyramid in the dorm.
8) What am I doing with my life?
9) I hope you all have a splendid day. Eat your broccoli and bananas and ice cream!
So tell me:
Do you ever sponge bath/deodorize like a madman, because you know you’ll have to shower later anyway?
Is there an activity that you haven’t done in a while that you’re craving?
What are you doing today?
Haha 8am classes are rough! Hopefully you don’t have one every day 🙂 I’m glad you found your lanyard!
I actually was thinking the other day about looking into dance classes! I am a horrible dancer but I love it, and I think it would be fun to take a class one night a week. Again, I am jealous of the food you’re served at the dining halls because that fruit crisp is something I would never have seen at my college.
“Anyone can dance and everyone should!” <— that was the motto of my dance school in high school 😉
I have my Bio class at 8 am every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I actually scheduled it that way and I have no idea if I am going to regret that decision or not 😀
It’s definitely nice to get classes out of the way early in the day!
How amazing that you can take a dance class in college! When I was in college, our gym credit options were strength training, fitness walking, circuit training, and yoga. I took the strength training my sophomore year (I think?!) and really learned a lot. I always wished I could take the yoga class, but it never worked out with my schedule for some reason. Good luck with the morning class! I’m sure it will be great! I sometimes liked morning classes because they got me up and going for the day 🙂
I took yoga last year and loved it! Such a nice change of pace in the midst of a hectic week. And yes, I feel the same about morning classes— they keep me disciplined!
Yes, to the first question. Usually at night after working out and I don’t have time/don’t want to take a shower. We call it a “washcloth bath” from our childhood days. 🙂 I take a shower the next morning, BTW. 😀
Horseback riding! I needed to go like yesterday. Agh!
Getting my hair cut! Woohoo! Finally. I’ve been waiting for this day!
Have a good day, Alison! 😀
At least we’re TRYING to stay hygienic and clean-smelling 😉 Hope your haircut is everything you wanted it to be!
I moods dancing so much!!! Definitely something I’m looking forward to getting back to!!!
And man I feel bad for your roomies….loads of broccoli 😷😷😷 small bladder and shower cleaning fettish You’re gonna own that bathroom by the end of the year! 😂😂😂jk
Have a great one pal!!
HAHA “shower cleaning fetish” might be a little extreme, but I still commend my roomies for dealing with all my other shenanigans 😉
😆 Definitely been there with the sink sponge bath. I even keep a pack of baby wipes on hand juuuuuuust in case I need a quick cleaning. And don’t even get me started on how much I adore dry shampoo. I should probably buy stock in the company…
Baby wipes are life savers for many reasons. And dry shampoo is something I still haven’t tried yet, but I have a feeling it would very much come in handy…
Oh A. Let’s see how many bananas and jars of PB you go through this semester.
PS- Salmon jerky is ridic amazing and ridic pricy. Don’t get me started on faux showers.
I’m almost done with my Costco-sized jar that I opened last Wednesday, and I’m estimating 2 bananas/day.
Don’t tell me you tried showering in the fountains at Washington Square Park.
I’d love to try out dancing a bit more and get back into yoga when I get back to school. I don’t know for sure that that’s what I’ll prioritize, but they both sound very appealing. And haha I’ve sooo been there with entire steam bags of broccoli (and cauliflower). They’re super easy dorm snacks/meal components 🙂
It feels so wonderful to stretch out and move after long days of studying! And steam bags of broccoli might be my new best friend when veggie intake is falling to the wayside… 😉
YES I have so taken the awkward half-shower and have even washed parts of my hair in the bathroom sink. Laziness at its finest. Your story (albeit scary) of losing your stuff then just staying in your dorm was super funny for some reason. Yay for dorm food- I have no idea what I will be living off of when I leave… hopefully more than just protein bars and nut butter :P!
I can tell you that oatmeal, nut butter and frozen bananas are staples for me, but there are a bunch of cheap and easy options out there like jerky, carrots + hummus, cookies… 😉
