#1: I woke up past 10 AM on both Saturday and Sunday.
I blame Daliza for getting me on the night owl schedule.
#2: My hair is starting to grow past my shoulders, giving me an unintended retro look.
Thank God for hair dryers and straighteners.
#3: I’m still going strong with red, white, and blue food.
cookie dough cereal with strawberries, blueberries, and banana
#4: I bought way too many tickets at Festa Italiana on Friday, so I had to keep buying food to use them up.
I thought the tickets could be used for the carnival games as well, but it turns out that they could only be spent on food. Not that I’m complaining.
meatball sub hallelujah
strawberry and sea salted caramel gelato
“Granita”— an icy almond flavored drink (non-alcoholic 😉 )
soft pretzel with mustard
Mike shared his zeppoles with Daliza and me too! Fantastic.
#5: Sauce and cheese and bread were all over my face as I ate my meatball sub.
Just like last year.
#6: Before Friday, I couldn’t remember the last time I ate a soft pretzel.
I’m glad I changed that. Soft pretzels are doughy heaven.
#7: We played at my neighborhood playground at midnight.
Hoodlums, I know.
#8: I’ve eaten this dinner almost every night this past week.
Pesto pasta with grilled Italian chicken breast with melted mozzarella and tomato slices on top. Festa for the taste buds!
#9: I tried this baked avocado egg for lunch on Saturday, and I don’t know how I feel about it.
It seems like an awesome idea in principle, but it tasted…interesting.
plus a classic egg in a hole using Dave’s Killer Bread and cooked in buttahhh
Eaten with some poppy seed 34 Degrees crisps*
It was slightly bitter (probably due to the avocado rind), and the baked egg also reminded me of the taste and texture of a Chinese egg tart. It was weird.

#10: I toss my salads in my baking mixing bowl and eat it straight out of there.
Practicality.
Or straight out of the salad container.
#11: I watched two animated movies on Saturday night.
Minions at the theater and then The Book of Life at Daliza’s house afterwards.
WE LOVED MINIONS. I’ve never watched the Despicable Me movies, but after seeing Minions, I definitely want to! It’s good that Minions was a prequel 🙂
#12: We sat in handicap seats at the theater.
We walked in a little late, so those were the best ones available. Don’t worry, we definitely would have gotten up if someone needed the seats.
#13: The men’s final was the only Wimbledon match I watched.
I never knew when the matches were being televised throughout the tournament, but I’m glad I caught the last great match between Djokovic and Federer. I like both of them, but I was secretly rooting for Federer. Djokovic totally killed it though!
#14: Seeing how flexible Djokovic is makes me really want to stretch more.
The announcers called him, “Gumby-like.” I’m inspired.
#15: I cooked with panko bread crumbs for the first time ever last night.
Baked chicken fingers, baby! I added cayenne and paprika to the bread crumbs for a little uppercut of flavor.

Hope you all have a great week ahead! Embrace the bad hair days and embrace the carbs.
*34 Degrees sent me some of their Savory Crisps to try. As with any product that I endorse on Daily Moves and Grooves, I have to love it to keep eating it and showing it to y’all!
So tell me:
Three delicious things you ate this weekend!
Have you ever tried the baked avocado egg?
Are there any recent animated movies you love? People are raving about Inside Out, and I really want to see it!
Any weekend confessions!?
Looks like you’ve been so busy these last few days, I’m so happy for you haha! Busy days are always the best!
All that food looks incredible too! This week I’ve eaten a flatbread pizza salad, so so so yummy! Ben and Kerry’s, because ice cream and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies!
I tried the avocado egg thing and wasn’t a fan! Very rubbery hahaha. Weekend confessions hmmm, I didn’t watch any Wimbledon despite being a Brit, I slept A LOT and watched a ton of trash TV haha! Have a lovely day Alison xo
I actually wasn’t too busy, but a lot of fun things did happen! 🙂 And I think I might have overcooked the avocado egg a little, which is why it seemed so custardy. Hope you have a great week, Amy!
Such a great weekend. I am beyond jealous of you sleeping past 10 AM… I can’t remember the last time I did that! Sleeping in for me now is like 8:30 haha. Danny and I were debating between Minions and Inside Out and we saw Inside out – so so good. I was crying at the end which was a little embarrassing but definitely worth seeing 😛
I usually never sleep past 9, but I went to bed super late on Friday and Saturday night, so I just let myself sleep in. Everyone says that they cried watching Inside Out! I’m really excited to see it actually.
I actually like baked egg in avocado! It’s true,it tastes very different than the two things separately, but I like it 🙂 I don’t make it often though because the egg never fits completely and it just makes a mess 😀
Yeah I had to scrape out a couple tablespoons of the avocado (I planned ahead and used that scooped out portion for avocado toast the day before 😉 ) in order for the egg to fit!
You have to watch inside out Alison, it was definitely a great movie- I even watched it twice! I have always wanted to try the baked egg thing, how does the avocado turn out when its baked/heated, it doesn’t get too mushy/melty, does it?
Everyone says they love Inside Out, so I’m definitely going to have to see it!
The avocado actually becomes a little firmer when you bake it! At least mine did.
Love these posts☺️ ok let’s see I ate some yummy blueberry pancakes, an amazing peach (I swear it was amazing lol ) and and pretzel roll!!!! I agree with you…Doughy heaven!!!!
I also was super non productive this weekend 🙈 lets blame it on the heat?! 😜
I haven’t seen minions or inside out…or even despicable me for that sake!….but I really want to see them all!
Have a great one pretty girl!
Peaches are SO good these days! And you need to see Minions if you get the chance! Inside Out seems like it’s worthwhile as well 🙂 Hope you have an awesome week, Katie!
This is so fun! I’ve never tried a baked avocado egg… but it looks delicious! YUM! 🙂 Also, sea salt caramel gelato?!! WHAT!!!! YUM! I’m OBSESSED with salted desserts! SO good!
I still prefer avocado toast with a sunny side up egg over the baked avocado egg, but I’m glad I tried it. It was still tasty! And yes, that gelato was awesome too 😉
First off, your hair is SO stinkin’ adorable. I wish my hair looked like that. It is very retro and very cute 🙂
Baking with panko is great because it is so light and can get really crunchy. My mom and sis make chicken fingers out of it, also. Did you enjoy the panko-breaded chicken fingers? They looked fabulous. You are becoming quite a chef, Miss Alison!
Disney movies are an instant animated classics for me. My favorites have to be Hercules, Tangled, and the Toy Story movies.
Aw you’re so sweet, Alison! My dad and I very much enjoyed the pinko-breaded chicken fingers. I was craving something crunchy (and something that I could dip in ketchup/mustard with my fingers), and it satisfied!
wait is the 10am thing because 10am is considered ‘late’? If I wake up before 10am on a weekend I feel like I’ve started off on the wrong foot.
Haha I like you 🙂 Anything past 9 is pretty late for me!
Go for the retro hair. You can totally rock it!
Haha the retro hair happens sometimes whether I like it or not! 😉 But thank you!
ALL THE HUNGER. Oh my gosh, this legitimately made my stomach growl at work. Guess it is time for a snack! Three amazing eats this weekend: baked sweet potatoes slices, Love Grown Super Oats (SO GOOD), and stir fry we made. I love your hair…just saying. =) I’m wishing mine would grow just a littttle faster.
Mmmm all your food sounds amazing too! I love the Love Grown Super Oats. I’ve only owned a bag of those once, but that one time was a great time. 😉 And thank you for the hair compliment!
