Now, now. I’m not necessarily inspired to go all out and train for a marathon or even a half marathon now. But I am inspired by the resilient and joyful marathoners whom I witnessed yesterday.
Winner Lelisa Desisa is in the yellow and third place finisher Wilson Chebet is in the green!
My friends and I found a great spot near Mile 25 to spectate the runners shout and cheer them on like it’s going out of style. If you follow me on Snapchat, you might have seen the videos of me yelling, “DIG DEEP. THIS IS IT, YOU GOT IT.”
My voice dropped a couple octaves yesterday.
Of course, I had to have a good breakfast for Marathon Monday. All that screaming and cheering needed fuel, ya know? I ate a whole wheat apple pancake with peanut butter and banana, scrambled eggs, and even some fancy turkey bacon (although turkey bacon is devil’s food in the eyes of my friends who love real bacon). Glass o’ milk on the side!
It was a rainy, gloomy day in Boston yesterday, but I imagine that the runners might have preferred that over an extra warm day. It was pretty chilly for us on the sidelines though!
I went to the sidelines too late to see the top finishers for elite women, but we got to see the elite men and a lot of people from the first two waves. I didn’t get to see Tina or Morganne, but I know they killed it!
It was an incredible experience watching the marathoners—those on their two feet, those on one foot, those on wheels, those in military uniform, those wearing fun costumes, those running barefoot(!). All of them are amazing human beings from whom we can all draw inspiration.
Whenever a marathoner would blow a kiss, come over to high five the spectators, raise the roof, or just smile really big, it was like a ray of sunshine.
blowing kisses!
My friend Fiona was so awestruck that she asked if I wanted to run a marathon with her during our senior year. WHOA THERE. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here… I’m perfectly content with burpees and 4-5 mile runs when I’m feelin’ it.
I mean, maybe it will happen one day. Who knows? Marathons are about dreaming big, right?

Maybe I should organize a burpee marathon. 1000 burpees for time. Oof.
Hope you’re all having a great day!
So tell me:
Did you watch the Boston Marathon yesterday? Did you have a favorite moment?
Have you ever run a marathon? Do you want to run one?
Would you be down for a burpee marathon?
