There has been a lot of sugar on the blog recently.
I mean, Monday’s post consisted of cheesecake, cookie dough, and ice cream. Although I have indeed been eating more sugar than I would at home, I’m cool with it because there is still balance. I haven’t shared much of the food I’ve been eating besides my desserts, so that’s exactly what I want to do today!
Since I have accumulated way too many food photos on my phone, I’m just going to share my favorite meals I’ve recently eaten. There have fortunately been many great meals, so I had to be pretty selective!
Favorite Breakfasts
scrambled eggs with ketchup + oatmeal with pb, banana, and honey
egg white and veggie omelet with sriracha + corn muffin + pear
egg and cheese on whole wheat English muffin + my classic cottage cheese concoction (cottage cheese, strawberry yogurt, banana, and pb)
whole wheat apple pancakes with peanut butter + scrambled eggs with sriracha + glass o’ milk (I didn’t eat the apple…it’s still in my fridge)
whole wheat French toast with honey and butter + the classic concoction
Favorite Snacks
Thanks for bringing these, madre 🙂
Wheat Thins with unsweetened/unsalted sunflower seed butter. MMMM.
Honeycrisp apples. Also thanks to madre.
frozen bananas (so much better than non-frozen)
whole wheat oatmeal cookies from my aunt’s care package
Favorite Lunches
vegan sloppy joe + sweet potatoes
baked fish with salsa + potatoes + peas + salad
butternut squash soup with wonton crisps + salad + whole wheat wrap with roast beef, turkey, provolone, veggies, and honey mustard
black bean burger on a whole wheat bun + veggies
Favorite Dinners
beef and veggie pita + sweet potato fries!!! happy day.
chicken parm with whole wheat pasta + steamed squash
turkey meatloaf + mashed potatoes + veggies
The thing that surprises me most about my eats lately is the addition of savory foods to my breakfasts. I used to never eat savory foods for breakfast unless it was absolutely necessary. Sweet breakfasts still have my heart, but I’ve been diggin’ the eggs with spicy sriracha! Gets the blood pumping a little more in the morning. 😉
Also, whenever there is meatloaf in the dining hall, I have to get it. I’m that person that loves loaf o’ meat. The best part is that the meatloaf at our dining halls is usually “Sargent Choice”, which is the healthy seal of approval here at Boston University. I use that to justify my choice to always get it when it’s available.
Not all the food here is squeaky “clean”, but I prefer it that way. I can almost feel my brain (and soul) thanking me for feeding it satisfying, substantial foods. I’m not quite sure how I used to survive on wimpy salads in the past. I do believe times have changed for the better!
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! Eat good for ya food and good to ya food 🙂
Linking up with food party master Jenn today!
So tell me:
What have been some of your favorite meals recently?
Do you like meatloaf?
Eating _______ makes me smile.
I very much know what you mean about feeling so much more satisfied and “alive” when not always eating the ‘cleanest’ food — big ditto on that one 🙂 The way I see it, there’s food for the body, and food for the soul, and we definitely can NOT neglect the soul aspect. I did that for years and years, and the irony is that I was way unhealthier than I am now. Eating cookies makes me smile 🙂
Amen! Smiling is definitely a vital part of our health 🙂
I’m pretty sure your college’s food > all my food 😜
Love meatloaf so much! It’s like a meatball in loaf form! What’s not to love?!
Have a great day Alison and stay warm 😘
That’s what I say! Meatloaf is just meatball in another form. Variety is the spice o’ life, am I right?
Stay warm too, Katie! ♥
Wheat thins with sunbutter was one of my go to snacks in the dorms! And lots of bananas. I think my first two years of college I ate enough bananas for a lifetime, and rarely eat them raw now, haha. But they do always make it into smoothies and baked goods!
Great minds think alike 😉 I totally miss bananas in baked goods and smoothies! I eat them raw now more than ever haha
um…is your dining hall Wholefoods? Seriously? Amazing.
I bought those snap pea crisps when I was in LA…although I ate the whole bag in one go. Your mum needs to teach me portion control.
The only thing that would really make it Whole Foods would be a cheese bar.
The only reason I can control my portion with those snap pea crisps is because they’re in little portioned bags already. Otherwise, I would be in the same boat as you, dude.
I HATE MEATLOAF. EW. Like, why is it a thing.
Although, I have made (and loved) lentil loaf before. It tasted like Christmas because it had sage in it.
Anywaaaaay. Hi! How ya doin? I love your balance to healthy eating and ‘putting life into living’. I ate a vegan macro bowl for dinner last night, and just polished off a tray of mini desserts. Hahahah
LOL this post is probably repulsive to you then. Maybe you’ve just had some sad meatloaf in your lifetime. Or maybe you really do just hate it.
I love balancing out veggies with sweets. And vice versa. 🙂
where in the world did you get those snap pea packets?! I need those in my life! I suck at portion control. Also this is crazy but we go to the same school ahhh! before I went gluten and dairy free for health reasons, my favorite go to breakfast was some yogurt, granola, the berries by the icecream or bagels depending on which dining hall you’re in, pb, and bananas. you need to try that combo! a little bit of cheerios in it also is wonderful and some cinnamon.
My mom got them somewhere in Canada! I’m sure they sell them at places like Costco though!
Oh my goodness, GIRL. That’s so awesome that you go to BU!!! Are you a freshman??
Ah I need to search Costco ASAP! Yeah I randomly came across your blog through someone else giving you a shoutout. I’m actually a junior!
Those vegan sloppy joes!!!! ❤ need. So in love with ALL of your eats! You seriously eat better at college than I do here. I'm considering going to BU just to get these eats 😉
You would love those vegan sloppy joes! If I only I could tell you what was in them!
COME TO BU!!! Even if only for a visit!
