Notes on College

What’s up, party people?!

I have so much to tell you, it’s almost as overwhelming as school right now (just kidding, school is alright for now). But really, what’s happenin’? {I ask myself that every day.}

Well, I guess I can tell you all what I think of this whole university thing after the first week of classes! And since life is all about the note-taking right now, might as well do this post in the style of notes, eh?

Classes/Homework:

  • Walking from class to class in a ten minute time frame WILL make me a sweaty mess and sometimes frazzled.
    • Inevitably, I will be late to my statistics lecture and be forced to sit in the back, thus not being able to hear the professor with a thick, Eastern European accent.
  • Having a planner is life.

  • I’ve read more hard text this past week than I have in the past year.
  • Notebooks > binders
  • Back problems may arise due to backpack weight.
  • Do not chug water before class because that will cause you to desperately have to pee in the middle of your big psychology lecture. Then you will have to leave in front of the whole class in a WALK OF SHAME.
    • No, I did not ask to leave, but still.
  • Studying on the esplanade of the Charles River with your roommate on a picture perfect Sunday makes it all better.

Social Life:

  • The highlights of my week were the events at the Catholic center— a scavenger hunt, games/karaoke night, and glow-in-the-dark dodgeball. HOLLA.
    • TGIF = Thank God It’s First-Week

Karaoke for “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan… I mean, perfect, or what?

  • First birthday party of the year was a success! I am so thankful for my amazing roommate, Jordan. You’re legal now, girl!

That would be a salad on a corn waffle (I KNOW) + my adorable roomie

  • Having the bro so close to me in Boston is a true blessing.
    • We always, without fail, speak to each other in a British accent ➔ Why? ➔ Good question.

P.S. I got the idea to start the #BUmovesandgrooves hashtag from Cait’s Plate, who uses hashtags such as #mygradschoolyears. It’s a unique hashtag, so it’s like she has her own portfolio of photos from her grad school years! I want to do that for my BU years 🙂

  • Signing up for so many clubs is great because you get free stuff exposed to new groups of people, but then there’s the fact that my email inbox will be a madhouse.
  • My friends and I went to an “R-Rated Hypnotist” on Saturday night since it was one of the welcome back events here at BU. Ummm SO hilarious, but kinda freaky and very inappropriate (well, appropriate for the title “R-Rated”). It was one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever witnessed.

Fitness:

  • See weekly moves and grooves post!
  • Making workouts a priority ➔ less stress ➔ better sleep
    • But still make sure to rest, which is equally as important as working out.

And that’s basically the notebook of my life from the past week! I actually quite liked writing my recap this way, but what do you guys think? Is it weird? Confusing? Boring? (P.S. This is kind of how I actually take notes in class!) If you guys honestly enjoy this kind of post, then let me know!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and I hope you have a great week ahead! WIAW should be up on Wednesday!

Linking up with Katie‘s marvelous Monday!

So tell me:

Something fun you did this weekend!

Any embarrassing class stories. Please.

In which clubs/activities were you involved during high school or college?

This “notes on college” thing— yay or nay?

  1. I like the note-taking layout! I don’t go to a public school, so I don’t have any embarrassing stories (*boooooo!*) but I find ways to keep myself amused, regardless. 😉 I’ve always wanted to see a hypnotist — maybe not an R-rated one though…

  2. Love this note style blog post!!! It’s actually easier to read than normal posts 👍👍 and very entertaining 🙂 so yay from me😉
Since I have the bladder of a small child and would insist on bringing a large cup of coffee or other beverage with me to classes I experienced the walk of shame many a times and then the inevitable stress/freak out that I probably missed the most important part! 🙈
Anywho I loved hearing about your first week! And hope you have another great week ahead 😘

  3. I love that you’re having such a good time at school 😀 It makes me miss my own university years. So YES to the hashtag — let me live vicariously through you! Oh, and my biggest piece of advice would be to BRING KLEENEX to exams. I have way too many embarrassing stories of my nose literally turning into a faucet 15 minutes into exams and having no kleenex in sight. Awkward.

  4. Sounds like college is agreeing well with you! Clubs are defffinitellyyy the way to go. Getting involved is by far the best way to meet people! Hmm something fun i did this weekend… I moved into my room for senior year! I guess that was more stressful, but it’s nice now that it’s all good and done 🙂

    • The contemplation of whether to go or not and thinking “I could have been done by now”…so much stress.
Dude, this R-Rated hypnotist. Definitely story time one day. WAIT OMG, can you FaceTime/skype me when you’re in Toronto? Maybe even when you’re with Queen Davs?

  5. I love this! You are totally embracing all aspects of life, and I love your balance! I lived out if my planner, I see you caught on fast. Just wait until you start color coordinating with highlighters, haha. You look stunning and glowing, so happy for you!
