Prom-posal + Fascinating Friday Links #29

Hello!

So I got a little excited on social media yesterday (Instagram + Twitter) because I got asked to prom, which means I’m not a loner! 😉

The run-down: One of my best friends, Michael, has this school project that he’s been working on (he did not make it just to ask me to prom). It’s a cool light box that he engineered himself, and it plays light patterns and effects according to the beat of whatever music you connect to it. I had known about this project prior to the “promposal”, and I thought it was really cool and impressive!

So he brought his project to AP Calculus yesterday, and some people that aren’t usually in our class were stopping by, but I just thought people wanted to see his project. We turned off the lights to see his little light show, and at the end, it was supposed to say “ALISON PROM?” but the bottom section of lights weren’t working, so I didn’t notice the words. I was seriously SO clueless. All my friends knew what it was supposed to say, but they couldn’t say anything of course. So Michael fixed the glitch, and the light show happened again, but this time the letters were clear. Even then, I nearly missed it because my brain was not processing life at that point in the morning. I finally realized that the guy was asking me to prom for crying out loud, and I said yes!

That was a confusing story. Basically, he’s a genius, I’m clueless, and I’m so excited to be going to prom with my best friend! Here’s the full video (thanks to my friends Daliza and Alexia for filing and editing this! I didn’t even realize they were filming it…I’m such a lost sheep).

Thanks again, Michael! ‘Twas incredible.

Okay link love time. Enjoy this week’s Fascinating Friday Links!

  1. Awhhh that prom-posal has got to be the snazziest evvver! And duhh, no way are you are loner girl..you’re cool stuff 😉
Fun weekend ahead: Attending my little cousin’s Pirate party tomorrow and my brother is competing with his horses this weekend so I’m hoping to get over to the show grounds on Sunday to watch the championship 🙂 .
Thanks once again for providing killer-good reading material! I loved the “Workout motivation” from the Fitnessista..alot of the time all you need is to just get the blood flowing to kick-start that ‘high’. Oh and I’m a beeeg fan of bodyweight excercises..now I’ve got all the more reason to keep loving it.
Robyn is one of bestest ladies out there for sure. Her site never manages to open on my laptop, but her content is basically gold..so I make sure to get access to my sisters computer every now and again to soak in her wealth of information.

  2. That’s so sweet of him. That’s a great way to get asked to prom. I was asked to prom too but it was nothing extravagant like that. I ended up saying no to him. Lol. That was two years ago.
Congratulations and I hope you have fun!
And great links. It’s hard to choose a favorite.

  3. YUSS! I was waiting for this post and hung onto every second of that video! Your reaction was PRICELESS and super adorable. You’ve got such a clever friend and date 😉 Men these days are just not that thoughtful! Thank you for sharing this with us, especially me since I am nosy! Now I can’t wait for your princess dress 😉 Do you think you’ll do your hair in a up-do or down? Prom & wedding planning are one of my favorite things, ever. So excuse me if I go all beauty squad on you haha ❤

    • I definitely feel very lucky that he put so much effort into it. 🙂 Ahh no worries, girl. I am all about wedding and prom stuff too! I’ll probably do an up-do or side braid of sorts since it’ll be HOT! I’ll keep you in the fashion/beauty loop for sure 😉

  4. I can’t believe I had the guts to do this, but I called a guy who I had a crush on who went to another school (this was before texting… you had to CALL) and asked him to the prom! I had a mutual friend ask him, “If Megan asked you to the prom, would you say yes?”… so I already knew he would say yes but i still can’t believe I called him. Ah, high school 🙂

  5. Wow, that was quite a creative and unique prom proposal!! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of one quite so unusual and fantastic. I am SO very happy and excited for you, and I am sure you will have a fantastic time at the prom, whenever it is. Does Michael know he is being featured on your blog today?? 😉 Since I was homeschooled my whole life, I never went to a traditional prom, though I did attend a homeschool prom with a few of my friends once. It was fine, but I am not a huge fan of such dances in general. Still, I am glad you will be going with a date this year–you must be very excited! I hope you have a great weekend!

  6. Yay!!! That is one heck of a prom-posal!!! Tell him I give it two thumbs up!! So sweet and creative and clever without being over the top👍👍😊
Loved cauliflower crust calzones!!, 10 things to remember when you’re feeling alone (so true), and we should stop shunning carbs (amen!!)
Have a great weekend Alison!! 😘

  7. That is an awesome way to be asked to prom! For my senior homecoming my friend and I were in our school newspaper office working on things and he handed me a story to proofread, but I was really busy with other things and kept putting it off and eventually handed it to someone else to look over… Turns out in the middle of the story he had put a quote asking me to homecoming! Oops! I still apologize for my obliviousness.

    Have a great weekend!
