Dancers Fueled By Popcorners {MIMM #26}

Hi there!

The weather forecast said there would be a 100% chance of snow last night, and it was 100% wrong. It’s not like we needed another snow day though, so I’m strangely a-okay with going to school today. I also just don’t want the roads to get all clogged up again. I may or may not have driven {slowly} into mini glaciers three times in the past week.

Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely weekend, whatever the weather! Mine was pretty darn marvelous. And it’s not just because Joseph Gordon Levitt and Emma Watson were on stage together at the Oscars last night. Or because Ellen was the hostess!

Friday

I was pretty much a veg at home after school on Friday besides trying out a bunch of these awesome (and not-so-awesome) pushup variations. In the evening, I did some “MC Hammering” (in the words of Arman) at my school’s talent show. Noooo, I didn’t shuffle across the stage in flashy, super-low-crotch pants. I was a co-emcee with three other students, and we basically introduced people and told corny jokes. It was a fun time!

My favorite corny joke: What did the baby corn say to the mama corn?

…Where’s POPcorn?!

You’re smiling. It’s ok.

Throughout the evening, I was fueled by a smoothie that I had for dinner. I was inspired by Amanda’s breakfast for dinner, so I tried out her oatmeal cookie dough smoothie with spinach/kale for some extra veggie power!

I had to use a spatula to get every bit of goodness out of the blender 😉

And since I eat Greek yogurt with everything and I was craving that creamy tanginess…

Spoon➔ dip in Greek yogurt➔ dip in smoothie➔ put in mouth➔ repeat.

I highly recommend this smoothie! So thick and satisfying.

Oh, and here’s more proof of my love for Greek yogurt:

Saturday

Another long day at dance from 11 AM-4 PM, and then Mass afterwards. We did have a Groupon for our favorite Japanense restaurant though. 😀 Our reason for celebration was an early Mardi Gras and a farewell to my mom who is leaving for Florida soon. Let’s face it though— we would have gone even if it weren’t for those reasons.

This was green tea gelato. Can you hear the angels singing?

Sunday

Sunday started off earlier than usual with a Sunday school staff meeting at 8:30 AM.

I couldn’t roll out of bed at the last minute though because I had to get dolled up for the dance company photo shoot! We each get a headshot, and then there are a bunch of group photos taken. I’m also vice president of company, and officers (president, VP, etc.) get additional photos with each other and by themselves in different dance poses.

Some people may think that dancers are extremely cautious of their diets, but this company likes to EAT. It’s not always “real food” either. Like these Popcorners that I could not stop eating:

Put one in your mouth and never turn back.

For our weekly brunches we also usually have foods such as bagels, pretzel crisps, cereal, fruit, muffins, and granola bars. Dancers need ’em carbs for four hours of dance!

That pretty much sums up my weekend: corny jokes, corny chips, and green stuff. 🙂

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

So tell me:

Do you like having breakfast for dinner?

What is your favorite kind of chip?

Three things you did this weekend!

  1. Squeee!! At least there’s something that I have this side – Popcorners..love it. I’m always seeing glorious snack foods that I can never find here :-p
Can never go wrong with brinner. Ohhey I’m slightly apprehensive about adding greens to my smoothie..does it alter the taste at.all?
Fave chip for now is still the highly processed, good for the soul.. Big Korn Bites ❤

    • I’m glad to hear you have experienced the awesomeness of Popcorners 🙂
I usually add two big handfuls of spinach to my smoothie and I can never taste it at all! The sweetness from the banana/fruit hides it completely.
I just looked up Big Korn Bites, and they look crispy and fantastic!

  2. Wow, we got a ton of snow today and we got the day off. For once VA is colder than New York? What is the world coming to?! 😉 Groupons are the best…my dad and I had to use 2 this weekend because they were expiring. Hello double Indian leftovers today. That’s awesome about the photo shoot!

  3. I’m lol’ing right now! Thank you!! I needed that today! 🙂
Breakfast for dinner? Always a good idea!👍👍
    BBQ chips ftw!
And school work (womp womp🙈), errands, and dinner with my brother!
    Have a great Monday Alison!!😘💗
Ps prayers that your mom has a safe trip and a great time in Florida!!! Lucky duck!😭😜

  4. Sounds like you had a great weekend, Alison. =) And, I didn’t watch the awards. But I did read that Jennifer Lawrence tripped and fell on the red carpet. And I heard about the twitter picture (on the local news, for some reason…).
The green tea gelato sounds AMAZING! So lucky!

  5. I love the title! It’s soo quirky 😀 I love having breakfast 24/7! 😀 and I’ve seen some of your breakfast ideas, they are AMAZING! like oh my Gandhi! I studied, watched the purge(such a kick ass movie) and slept cuz us seniors need to take as much advantage as possible! 😉

  6. Haha Greek yogurt on the calculator – classic. I get food all over any surface I touch practically (uhh my phone screen is nastay).
Omg I LOVE green tea flavored ice cream!!!!!!!!!! It’s one of my favorite summer treats – I must try green tea gelato!!
Same with the cross country team (about liking to EAT)…you should have seen us at the buffet in our out-of-town meet. Not pretty.
    Have an amazing dayyyy!!!!

  7. I can’t lie, I did smile at that joke. It was too cute! 😀
The smoothie with greek yogurt combo sounds good! I can’t believe I’ve never thought of that. Genius girl. Pure genius.
Eat all the carbs for all the activities!

  8. Ahhh so much food love 😀 I’ve always wanted to try green tea ice cream, but I get worried because I have an allergy to caffeine so can’t really tolerate green tea. I would think it wouldn’t be as strong in the ice cream though? Green smoothies are just the best – I am pretty sure I have one every day! I LOVE the sweet and salty Pop Corners – SO good! I think it’s great that your dance group like to eat, I have always wanted to dance but have been scared the pressure might resurface eating issues. Maybe I will re-consider!

    • I don’t drink tea or coffee usually, and the gelato didn’t keep me up any longer than usual!
I’m so fortunate to be a part of such a supportive company with down-to-earth girls that like to enjoy life. I’m sure you will be able to find dancers that love to eat too! 😉

  9. Breakfast for dinner is my FAVE 🙂 I’m totally guilty of eating straight from the cottage cheese jar lol! I can’t seem to like greek yogurt. That is too funny with your calculator! Sometimes (all the time) I spill food on my calc homework 😉
