Good morning!
I’ll skip the intro and let the following out-loud thoughts do all of the talking. 🙂
Linking up with the wonderful host, Amanda!
1. Honesty is the best policy for me, and honestly, I have not started adding any pictures back into my media library after I told you that I deleted them all (thus deleting them from my past posts). It’s something I hope to do over time, but I have a lot of priorities ahead of that right now.
2. It has warmed up to sweater weather this week! There are no longer dangerous ice rinks in front of my school. However, it has been raining a lot lately, and there are pot holes deep enough to safely house a family of squirrels.
3. Speaking of “Sweater Weather,” I’ve been loving that song by The Neighbourhood. whenever it comes on the radio! Fact: I thought it was woman singing when I first heard it. I also don’t know how I feel about the actual lyrics, but the tune is groovy. I feel like that’s how it is with every popular song these days— awesome melody, weird/inappropriate/sexual lyrics. Ugh.
4. I got the news on Monday that I got accepted to Binghamton University! It’s a great New York state university that is definitely at the top of my list, so I’m pretty excited! My mom is also pumped. She likes to not-so-subtly mention how close it is, how cheap it is, and how it’s considered a “public ivy.” Oh, madre.
Hulk cat?

I’m still waiting to hear from three more colleges, and two of them should be coming by the end of the month!
5. I’ve been strangely full these past couple of days. I just don’t have a huge appetite. Nothing has really changed about my eats or …my life, so I’m not sure what’s happenin’. I almost feel tired of eating when it’s time for the next meal. Now THAT is some crazy stuff because I never get tired of eating. My friends (and Instagram followers) can vouch for that. I’m still eating enough, but it’s just not as an enjoyable of an experience.
6. There is currently enough food in my house to feed a small village. Any of my friends that are lacking in the snack department in their pantries can come over! My mom went to Costco yesterday, and it seems like she came back with a Santa sack full o’ goodies. These are just a few of the things she picked up:
Unnaturally huge strawberries. They’re definitely on ‘roids, but they’re still delicious.
Jalapeño Greek yogurt dip. I was excited to see that my mom bought this, especially after seeing how much Morganne loves it!
Microwave popcorn with a light movie theater butter flavor. It’s been a while since we’ve had this tasty little snack! (Shoutout to my friend Jeannine, who has popcorn almost every day at school— I’m thinking of you!)
My favorite.
These look they’re going to be awesome! They have things like chia seeds, brown rice, and other cool grains.
My other favorite! These are the absolute BEST brand of dried figs. Any other kind just does not compare.
Trail mix that was on sale— looks great!
So yeah. My mom likes to have field days when she visits the vortex that is Costco. I am very spoiled (and grateful), and I know college is going to be quite the adjustment next year.
7. There are four extremely brown and spotty bananas in our kitchen, and I really want to bake something with them, but I haven’t found the time this week. I’m still using them in my breakfasts (they get mashed up in the oatmeal and yogurt bowls anyway), but the smush factor is quickly rising. What should I make with them?? Bread? Muffins? Cookies?
8. I probably have a lot more to tell you, but nothing’s coming to me at the moment. I hope you all have a great Thursday! 🙂
So tell me:
Are there any songs of which you like the melody but not the lyrics?
Do you have “full” days?
Do you get sucked into the Costco vortex?
What is your favorite thing to make with overripe bananas?
CONGRATULATIONS, ALISON!! I had a good friend who attended Bing. and wow, such a beautiful campus. Heck – all up st. NY is beautiful.
Awesome! Thanks so much, Jessie 🙂
I don’t think that there are days when I am especially “full”… Simply sometimes simply tapes to prepare for me! My refrigerator is filled by vegetables, and and it is advisable to prepare. But when I only think of it, to me becomes badly. Therefore I take yogurts, fruit and I eat so all day 😀 I need to buy less snack that is “real” food 😉
There are always lots of snacks around at my house too, which can be dangerous!
Congrats on the acceptance, girlie! That’s freaking awesome news 😀 The hulk cat comment seriously made me lol though. And I’m kind of jealous over your banana situation… My store has been notoriously bad for selling nothing but super green bananas lately — I’m talking like glowing neon green. It’s sad. I had ONE ripe banana that I made flourless muffins with yesterday, and that recipe will be up on the blog tomorrow if you’re still looking for an outlet for your nanners.
PS — feelin’ ya on the appetite. Mine has been all over the place lately too.
Thank you, thank you, girl!
Aw man it’s always a stinker when all there is are bright green bananas in the store. Then the waiting game starts, and you just want your darn bananas. But I’m so looking forward to that muffin recipe! It’s coming at the perfect time. 🙂
Congratz on the college acceptance, how exciting! Awh what a bummer about the lack-of-appetite and all those incredible snacks… darnit why do we not have Costco!? I also went through a little stint of ‘less hunger’ than I was used to but it didn’t last long. My days are quite “full” yes..you know that feeling sometime where you kinda want to do a million things at once?
Thanks, girl!
Yes, I’m hoping my full-feeling days will depart soon. There are snacks that need to be eaten, as you can see! 😉
Costco sucked us into the vortex last weekend. We live two hours away – so when we’re there we’re always like….’will we need more of this in the next two months?’ – needless to say, we buy a lot of stuff!!!
CONGRATS ON SCHOOL! That’s awesome!
Oh wow, two HOURS away?? I totally understand getting sucked into the vortex then. 😉
Thanks, Chelsea!
I love/hate Costco. Love because they actually have some decent organic products but despise the crowds. I’m pretty good at not going overboard with impulse purchases, though. I stick to the basics – spinach, frozen fruit, chia & hemp seeds, etc.
I NEVER LET MY BANANAS OVER RIPEN! Yuck! EWWWWWW!!! NOOOOOO!!!! I hate them so much. I prefer it when they still have a little green on the ends. Is that weird?
Ahaha! You would FREAK out at the bananas sitting on my counter right now then. If I’m going to enjoy eating a banana completely by itself, I like a little bit of green too. But for everything else, overripe is juuust fine with me Although mine are on the verge of death right now, so they need to be used up PRONTO.
Congrats on your acceptance!!🎉👏👏 fun fact! My parents wanted me to go there too bc it was close and relatively inexpensive. Ofcourse I didnt listen to them but now seeing the loans I’ve accumulated in kicking myself!🙈
Costco is a dangerous place😳😉
Aaand, banana bread for me!🙋🙋🙋
Have a great day!
Thanks so much, Katie! Yeah, I’m definitely trying to look at the big picture in terms of finances and such, so Binghamton might be my most viable option, but we’ll see!
I’m thinking banana bread/muffins too!
Hope your day is going well, girl!
Congratulations Alison!! Way to go girl!!
Thanks so much, Ashley!
Congratulations, Alison! I hope you have a great college experience!
And, Costco is my favorite place to shop. I have the jalapeño greek yogurt dip at home too! haha.
Thank you, Helen!
Isn’t that dip good?? 🙂
Your #1 definately had me laughing out loud! I am all about honesty (;
Oh my I get so sucked into costco it is pretty much the greatest place ever! SO many songs like that, especially teaching group fitness there are so many good “workout beats” but absolutely horrible or just inappropriate lyrics.
Word to THAT. Like “Timber”— great workout song, awful lyrics.
Congratulations on getting accepted to Bing! That’s so exciting!! And on a completely random note I like to make protein pancakes with overripe bananas 🙂
Thanks, Courtney! And pancakes sound like a fabulous idea!
Your Costco…geebuz puts ours to shame. I’m not even going to bother anymore, America > Australia. In everything!
Congrats on the college acceptance- that is awesome! Fingers crossed for the others!
But America can be a lot more excessive than Australia….like those strawberries.
Thanks for the congrats, Arman!
The full tummy thing is something I can relate to!! interestingly it turned out to be from being sensitive to something I was eating consistently. I haven’t bought figs in awhile, need to do that again for post workout snacks!
Oh that is interesting. Maybe I’ll try changing things up in my diet a little more to see how that works out.
And figs are the best!
